Q&A with French Words founder Julien Azarian

What’s in a word? How about an expression? Since its beginnings, French Words has been one of my favorite Instagram and Twitter accounts to follow and not because I need language assistance. The concept’s creator, Julien Azarian, offers a clever and useful way to build your French vocabulary and master idiomatic expressions that you can weave into conversation (and impress your friends). It’s simple and consistent, something followers can look forward to several times a week. With 500,000 followers on Instagram and 36,000 on Twitter and a growing community on Facebook, Azarian’s reach is wide, a testament to the massive appeal (and perhaps seduction?) of the French language. He kindly agreed to answer a few questions about his project and where it’s headed. Take a look!

What motivated you to start this project? Was there a particular ‘déclic’?
It may surprise you but I had the idea for French Words in…. Sweden! In 2013, I spent 10 days in this wonderful country.
