I was recently tagged by Philadelphia-based photographer Christian Carollo (whose photos of Philadelphia are absolutely stunning) in the latest photo project from HostelBookers called 7 Super Shots. Each participant selects photos from their travels that best fit seven categories. Though challenging to narrow down, these are my picks:
1| A photo that takes my breath away
It’s hard to believe I took this well over a year ago from the balcony of Susan’s suite at the Westin but the view, with its figurine-like people and iron beacon, never ceases to tug at my heart.
2| A photo that that makes me laugh or smile
No trumpeting? That was my initial reaction when I saw this no-honking sign in Shanghai. I know I perplexed the group of street vendors who watched me snap the photo but my fellow travelers and I had a good laugh.
3| A photo that makes me dream
Well, two photos. Of the places I traveled in 2011, Toulouse made the most lasting impression. The emblematic exposed brick, the warm-colored buildings and narrow streets charmed in ways I hadn’t felt since my first trip to France. A city big enough to get lost a few times but small enough to know your neighbors.
