It has been just over one month since readers have been lending their time and attention to the stories of the inspiring, hard-working, ambitious, dedicated, and brilliant women in The New Parisienne and I’m overjoyed by the feedback you all have shared with me.
I wanted this book to give a voice to women who may not be used to telling their stories publicly, to women whose stories need to reach far beyond French borders, once and for all, to women who may be unknown and quietly disrupting industry and norms and shaping society for the future, and to women who I felt confident would inspire readers as much as they inspire me.
The timing of these stories is, strangely, perfect. To be sure, women’s rights, racial and social justice, and gender equality are not going to suddenly become issues of the past overnight simply because we are talking about them openly and ferociously. There is much work to be done but I hope this moment, undistracted from “normal”, business-as-usual life, will be the start of LASTING change and that my book can be a helpful part of that conversation and the path to greater understanding.
I also hope that those of you who have been enjoying the book and have connected with the women in its pages can feel connected to them off the page: online and through their work! To facilitate that, I’ve shared links below to their websites and social media handles so that you can follow along.
