Urban Festivities

There’s always something going on this city. Yesterday, while I was making lunch I  heard music coming from outside. This isn’t rare but usually ends up being a homelessman traveling concert.  I poked my head outside of our 5th floor apartment and saw what I think was a Chinese marching band parading down Avenue Parmentier. I’m not sure what the occasion was but it was free entertainment for 10 minutes! (See video down below)

Then after meeting friends for a coffee by Beaubourg and having typically bad Parisian service and being scoffed at, Cédric and I braved the crowds and did some holiday shopping. I’m not going to lie, my little Jewish heart fills with joy when I see all the Christmas lights and I naturally felt compelled to document BHV’s more modern interpretation of the holiday display.

Cue the Christmas music and favorite holiday films. France’s scant celebration of Halloween is forgivable because their Christmas festivities are rich with tradition and festivity. Chestnuts? Good. Pintade? Good. Pâte d’amandes? Gooood!
